Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 6 – Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni presided over the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the promulgation of the constitution, held on Friday (Oct. 6) at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center, Phnom Penh.

National dignitaries and leaders of the Royal Government and other relevant institutions also attended the ceremony.

“I have always observed that the Constitutional Council, as a judicial body, has played the best and most accurate role as an arbitrator in the communication of the nation's top institutions, especially between the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, particularly during general and non-universal elections under the leadership of a talented, wise, gentle, accurate - just, firm and inclusive talent of Senate president Say Chhum, National Assembly president Heng Samrin, and former prime minister and current chairman of the Supreme Privy Council Hun Sen. They have maintained strong solidarity, close cooperation, honesty and mutual trust, harmony in the development of the country to achieve great success in all fields, leading to the appreciation of all national and international circles,” according to a royal speech seen by Fresh News on Friday (Oct. 6).

His majesty continued, “at the same time, I firmly believe that under the umbrella of the Constitution, all national institutions will continue to fulfill their duties with high responsibility to ensure the development of our nation to achieve the 2030 National Development Goals and by 2050, become a strong and prosperous country. The Cambodian people will live in peace and stability, and have a prosperous life.”
