Phnom Penh (FN) May 24 - United Nation Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed grievances and condolences toward the deceased Cambodian peace keepers who sacrificed their lives in Central African Republic, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs's spokesman Chum Sounry.

The secretary-general was deeply regretful for the losses of Cambodian peacekeepers for the cause of peace in Central African Republic, according to the letter addressed to Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations in New York dated May 17, 2017.

On May 8, the rebels attacked UN's MINUSCA causing four deaths.

“Im Som, Mao Eng, Seang Norin, and Mom Tola died from the attack," according to the spokesman.

The United Nations will pay $70,000 to each of the families of the Cambodian peacekeepers who died in an attack in the Central African Republic.

The fund will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the chairmanship of minister Prak Sokhonn.
