Phnom Penh (FN), May 31 – The National Election Committee (NEC) has decided to relocate several polling stations affected by flooding.

Voting stations in some provinces may be extended 1 or 2 day(s) if the office was severely flooded in the commune election.

The statement was issued after floods inundated a number of residents in several provinces after consecutive downpours.

Oddar Meanchey, Pailin, and Banteay Meanchey were particularly affected.

“We will postpone voting 1 or 2 day(s) if the flood is serious but only for the flooded polling stations, not all stations nationwide,” stated Hang Puthea.

“We want to ensure everyone gets to vote. The NEC will solve the issues according to the situation”, he added.
