Phnom Penh (FN), June 9 – The Cambodian government has decided to contribute $100,000 to aid Sri Lanka's in recovery after natural disasters.

The declaration came in a letter Minister Hun Sen addressed to Sri Lanka’s PM dated June 9.

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the flood and landslides in western and central provinces of Sri Lanka caused by strong monsoon rains,” the premier wrote in the letter.

“On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia and her people, I would like to express sympathy and condolences to H.E and the people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, particularly the families of the victims of this tragic loss,” he added.

The disaster hit Sri Lanka during the last week of May 2017.

Approximately 150 people perished and 500,000 people were evacuated from their homes.
