Preah Vihea (FN), July 11 – Prime Minister Hun Sen has recommended that Cambodian border troops enjoy a monthly meal with Thai troops in an effort to promote cooperation, Gen. Chan Sopheaktra told Angela Cocoran, Australian ambassador to Cambodia, and Col. Mark Hinchliffe, Australian Attaché to Cambodia on Monday afternoon.

“Both sides respect the territorial integrity and the government's principles,” reported Cambodian Gen. Chan Sopheaktra.

“We solve problems through peaceful conflict resolution and have discussions each month during the solidarty meal,” he added.

Both Ambassador Cocoran and Col. Hinchliffe were pleased with the commander of Preah Vihear sub-division's strategy for maintaining close relations between Cambodia and Thailand.

The Ambassador added that Australia and Cambodia have a history of shared cooperation, and that if any military issues should arise Cambodia is welcome to communicate with the Australian Attaché in Cambodia.

The ambassador donated office equipment such as computers and printers to Cambodia and received a beautiful apsara figure carved from wood from as a token of gratitude in return.
