Phnom Penh (FN), July 12 – The Cambodian and Vietnamese Chiefs of Defense will sign an agreement establishing a natural disaster rescue unit along the border between the two countries.

The ratification of the agreement will take place during a visit of General Ngo Xuan Lich, Minister of National Defense for Vietnam, to Cambodia.

General Ngo Xuan Lich will lead a delegation to visit Cambodia from July 20 to July 22, 2017, reported Khieuv Chheng, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Policy and Foreign Affairs after meeting with Vice President of the Vietnam National Disaster Rescue Commission on Tuesday.

Tea Banh, Minister of National Defense of Cambodia and General Ngo Xuan Lich will discuss various strategies to strengthen the defense sector between the two countries.

He added that Vietnam is ready to assist Cambodia's Ministry of National Defense in emergency rescue for Cambodians should natural disaster occur.

Cambodia regularly sends officers to specialized institutions to receive disaster recovery training in other countries.
