Phnom Penh (FN), August 16 - Authorities have detained two people after a search of their accommodations turned up a stash of counterfeit money amounting to nearly $2 million.

The raid took place August 14th and led to the arrest of a 37-year-old citizen from Sierra Leon and a 48-year-old Libyan.

It appears that the suspects had been producing the fake dollars for quite some time but had yet to actually use any of it.

The duo was handed over to Phnom Penh Municipal Court prosecutors on Wednesday for legal action and questioning.

Their official arrest record indicates that they were in possession of counterfeiting equipment.
