Phnom Penh (FN), September 1 – Cambodian embassy in Malaysia and Laos successfully repatriated 3 Cambodian workers, according to the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

According to the press release, 3 women from Tbong Kmum Province, Kratie and Kandal were working illegally in Malaysia. When these workers requested the embassy for a repatriation, Malaysian Immigration Office and the IOM has sponsored air tickets for them to return to Cambodia.

While waiting, the embassy also provided accommodation and food. They arrived at the Phnom Penh International Airport on Thursday at 10:00 am.

The Cambodian ambassador to Laos working with the Lao authorities also released 23 Cambodian workers who were sent illegally to a construction site in Laos on June 15, 2017, and were arrested by Lao authorities on July 17, 2017.

The embassy with the cooperation with Consulate General in Pakse repatriated 23 workers to Cambodia by car on August 25, 2017.
