YANGON, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Second Vice President U Henry Van Thio will attend the general debate of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, the United States, an official announcement said on Thursday.

Sending of Van Thio's attendance at the ongoing UNGA to speak on behalf of Myanmar came shortly after State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi cancelled her planned attendance at the UN event.

Suu Kyi's cancellation of the trip was clarified as that she is busy with handling domestic affairs including management of providing humanitarian aid to displaced people in northern Rakhine state, security and stability of the region which is under terrorist threat, Taungdwingyi violence in central Magway region and domestic protest over terrorist attacks as well as the president's hospitalization case, according to the President's Office.

Meanwhile, Suu Kyi will also deliver a speech to the nation on Sept. 19 on the state's basic principles on national reconciliation and peace as well as the current situation in northern Rakhine state, Director-General of the President's Office told the press late on Wednesday.
