BANGKOK, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- One Thai ranger was killed and 18 others injured after three bombs were detonated in southern Thai province of Yala on Thursday morning.

The first bomb went off at a power pole at about 1:30 a.m. local time and caused no injuries.

The incident was reported to local police. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was sent to examine the scene. They were hit by a second bomb and also attacked by insurgents, according to reports by the Bangkok Post.

Later, the third bomb was detonated while officers were inspecting the scene.

Latest reports said a total of 19 officers were sent to hospitals, and one of them was pronounced dead.
