BANGKOK, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is scheduled to pay an official visit to the United States next week, said deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak on Tuesday.

Prayut will leave for Washington at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump from Oct. 2 and stay there till Oct. 4, the deputy government spokesman said at the Government House.

The U.S. president and the Thai premier will discuss topics of bilateral trade, investment, regional security and the current regional situation, Werachon said.

Trump extended his invitation for Prayut to visit the United States during a telephone conversation earlier this year, according to the deputy government spokesman.

Accompanying Prayut to the United States are Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai, Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda and Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn.
