Phnom Penh (FN), October 25 - The fisheries sector earned about $640,000 within the first nine months of 2017, according to the report of Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon.

The fishery revenues amounted to approximately $640,000, equivalent to 85.90% of the early plan of $740,000, an increase of $250,000 compared to the same period in 2016.

According to the report, export of fresh fishery was 6,950 tons, or 46.33% of the 15,000-ton plan, an increase of 150 tons compared to the same period in 2016.

The processed fishery amounted to 3,880 tons, or 77.60% of the 5,000-ton plan, an increase of 180 tons compared to the same period in 2016.

The report added that 2,870 illegal fisheries cases were cracked down.
