Phnom Penh (FN), October 25 - Former opposition senator left prison on Wednesday evening after getting pardoned by Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

Hong Sok Hour, senator from Sam Rainsy Party was detained in 2015 and convicted in 2016 to 7-year imprisonment for falsifying border map with Vietnam.

Hong was charged with forging public documents, using forged public documents, and incitement causing serious chaos for social security, which provides for punishments under Articles 629, 630 and 495 of the Criminal Code.

The pardon was made after Hong Sok Hour wrote a letter to Prime Minister Hun Sen expressing an apology.
