Phnom Penh (FN), October 27 - Prime Minister Hun Sen said Friday that the French government had approved to send experts to help change the Cambodia-Lao map scale, according to Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information.

Khieu Kanharith referred the information given by the premier during the weekly cabinet meeting.

Both Cambodia and Laos have requested a transfer of the map scale from 1/100,000 to 1/50,000 and to provide required documents related to the Cambodia-Laos border.

Both foreign ministers expressed their appreciation for the successful outcomes of the talks on border issues, as they reached reconciliation and mutual understanding.

The two sides agreed to settle the exact border between the two countries by going directly to the site.

The meeting between the Cambodian and Lao foreign ministers took place after Prime Minister Hun Sen had a bilateral discussion with Laotian Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Friday.

Cambodia shares 540 km border with Laos that requires 145 border marks. So far, 121 have been demarcated.
