Phnom Penh (FN), November 9 - The celebration of the 64th Anniversary of Independence from French Colonialism on Thursday morning, was held under the chairmanship of the King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni at Independence Monument.

Cambodia is celebrating the Independence Day on 9 November every year following the water festival.

Like previous years, military officers, monks, students, Cambodian citizens, Government officials and foreign diplomats participated in the ceremony presided over by the King Norodom Sihamoni at the Independence Monument.

Cambodia was under French colonial rule for nearly a century, and gained its independence on 9 November 1953.
