Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 14 - Two major union leaders in Cambodia, representing tens of thousands of workers on Tuesday, reacted to a California senator Ricardo Lara, who issued a letter of recognition that Sam Rainsy was the father of the Free Trade Union in Cambodia.

The two major union leaders rejected Richard Lara’s statement, and claimed that free trade union was already born long time ago in Cambodia.

The president of the Cambodian Confederation of Cambodian Workers and president of the Khmer Youth Union Union, representing more than 100,000 workers in the garment and footwear industry, dismissed to the fact that California Senator Ricardo Lara had recognized Sam Rainsy as the father of the unions in Cambodia.

The president of the National Labor Union (NLC) also rejected Richard Lara’s statement.
