Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 2 - The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts announced on Friday that at the meeting from Nov. 27-30, in Paris, France, Cambodia was elected as the chair of Committee of Cultural Protection of the 1999 Second Protocol to the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.

The Ministry of Culture considered the election as a success and reflection of the international recognition of the national cultural policy of Cambodia.

The Ministry of Culture has vowed to continue its close engagement with its members, committees and states as well as to promote the implementation of the Convention and the protection of valuable cultural heritage for the next generation.
