Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 2 - Hun Many, Cambodian parliamentarian and president of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), expressed his commitment that after bringing back the Angkorian jewelry from London, United Kingdom, to Cambodia, the Royal Government of Cambodia will continue to discover and return Cambodian heritage abroad to Cambodia.

This commitment was made during the interview at Phnom Penh International Airport after the UYFC President and delegates from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, brought gold jewelry to the country early Saturday morning.

“After receiving notification from the Cambodian embassy in London that Angkorian jewelry were auctioned off in London, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the Cambodian Embassy in London submitted a request to reclaim them. The government has worked hard to bring the priceless jewelry back home and early Saturday morning the Angkorian jewelry successfully returned to Cambodia”, said Hun Many.

Hun Many also thanks King Norodom Sihamoni, Prime Minister Hun Sen, and Minister of Culture, Phoung Sakona, for allowing him and his delegation to return the ancestral heritage back to its home country.

The ten sets of the Angkorian jewlery have been regarded as a precious and noble heritage both nationally and internationally. These treasures are part of the soul of the Khmer ancestors and were brought back home in the period of peace and propserity in Cambodia.
