Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 6 - Interior Ministry spokesman, Khieu Sopheak, on Wednesday morning said that Sam Rainsy, a former president of the dissolved party, did not understand about Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) strong bond.

His reaction was in response to Sam Rainsy, who claimed that CPP was having internal conflicts in the party.

“The main reason why Hun Sen decided to dissolve the CNRP is related to his fear of an inevitable split within the CPP,” stated Sam Rainsy in excerpt from a discussion in Paris on 2 December 2017.

"If there is no solidarity in the internal part of the party, it can not lead the country, and this unity dissolves both Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) and the Khmer Rouge movement," said Khieu Sopheak.

The Supreme Court dissolved the country's only opposition party on charges of conspiracy with foreigners aiming to topple the government. As party dissolved, 118 leaders and politicians from the CNRP were also banned from politics for five years.
