SEOUL, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Wednesday left for Beijing for his first state visit to China since he took office in May.

Moon went on board a presidential plane at an airport outside the capital Seoul early Wednesday.

President Moon will hold a summit meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping On Thursday to enhance friendship between the two leaders and build trust between the two countries.

While in Beijing, Moon is scheduled to meet with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee.

The South Korean leader will begin his trip Wednesday with a meeting with South Korean people living in China, followed by a joint business forum between businessmen of the two countries.

The South Korean leader will tour southwestern china's city of Chongqing before returning home late Saturday.
