Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 29 - Cambodia has been exporting 100,000 tons of cashew nuts to Vietnam annually, while the two countries (Cambodia-Vietnam) planned to export cashew nuts 10 times bigger.

The figure of the exports was presented at the meeting between Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Leng Rithy, president of the Vietnamese Rubber Enterprise Foundation (VREF) in Cambodia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

“Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) has recently met with the Minister of Agriculture to study the feasibility of investing, planting, and signing contracts to export 1 million ton of cashew nut per year from Cambodia to Vietnam in the future.

According to General Secretary of Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, Vietnam has imported more than 100,000 tons of cashew nuts from Cambodia annually.

The Vietnam Cashew Association has promised to provide one million cashew nut seeds to the Cambodian side and send experts to study and assess the situation and potential of cashew nuts in some provinces.
