Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 15 – FUNCINPEC Party rejected the news which published that the party nominated a Chinese man to become a vice president of the party.

FUNCINPEC claimed that those publications are the exaggeration, according to Nhep Bunchin, spokesman of FUNCINPEC party on Monday.

The reaction was made after some media published that FUNCINPEC party nominated a Chinese millionaire, Jackie Jing, to be a vice president of the party and the nomination is the violation of the law of Cambodia.

Nhep Bunchin clarified that Jackie Jing is not a Chinese millionaire, yet he is a Khmer-Chinese who has Cambodian nationality and has been a member of FUNCINPEC for 10 years. He added that Jackie Jing is a business man and has been nominated as economic and financial advisor of the party.

At the same time, Nhep Bunchin asked the media to stop publishing the falsifying that negatively impacted Cambodian media.

The member of political party in Cambodia needs to be Cambodian citizen who is at least 18 years old, according to the Cambodian law on political party.
