Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 22 – Cambodian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MoLVT) and American Center for International Labor Solidarity (ACILS), on Monday, signed Memorandum of Understanding on work cooperation, presided over by Minister of Labor Ith Somheng.

Through the MoU, Minister Ith Somheng expected that the Cambodian textile, cloth, and footwear production will be circulated in the market of the United States.

“So far, the Ministry has a good cooperation with ACILS although there has no any MoU framework. The MoU signed today will enhance better cooperation between Ministry and ACILS. The MoU will be a crucial framework of cooperation between MoLVT and ACILS which aims to implement the government’s policy to create jobs in Cambodia,” the minister said.

He continued that through this cooperative framework, Cambodia will jointly enhance the implementation of the policy related to the labor sector in response to the goals which stressed in the MoU, especially cooperation on health, work safety, and security improvement in terms of employee transportation.

The Minister strongly believed that the MoU will become a crucial framework for the operation of ACILS to legalize for its work operation in consistency to the law of Cambodia.

Cambodia has cooperated closely with the United States to implement the connectivity between trade and working conditions.

Through the corporation, Cambodia has enhanced the implementation of better working condition in response to any concerns from the involving parties including the main purchasers of the U.S.

The minister hopes that the order on all types of products will be increased substantially.
