Phnom Penh (FN), Jan, 23 – In 2017, Cambodia received approximately $2 billion of tariff revenue, according Kun Nhim, Director General of General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia.

His statement was made in the Annual Meeting of General Department on Tuesday, presided over by Aun Pornmoniroth, Minister of Economic and Finance of Cambodia.

Kun Nhim said that in 2017, the net revenue of the tariff reached $1.9 billion, an increase of 10% compared to 2016.

In the meeting, Kun Nhim reflected the accomplishments on action plans, including enhancing technical work and tariff procedure; preventing and taking action on illegal trade, trade facilitation, international cooperation, human resource development; and consulting with private sector.

Aun Ponmoniroth expressed the appreciation highly commended the efforts of all customs officials. He also recognized the challenges which impact revenue collection, and encouraged customs officials to work harder for the next action plan.
