Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 24 - Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy, told on Wednesday at the Electricity Authority’s Annual Meeting 2017 that 14,168 villages in remote areas will be fully equipped with stable electricity supply with reasonable price by the end of 2020.

The data from the current Electricity Authority of Cambodia (EAC) shows that 68% the households are connected to the electricity by the end of 2017, while the report from World Bank Electricity Supply Project claimed that 71.5% of Cambodian households had already connected to the grid in 2017.

He said that throughout 2017, the EAC had connected electricity to 250,000 locations, amounting to 2.4 million locations connected to the grid.

Suy Sem added that among the 250,000 locations, there were 2,315,930 houses, 89,108 businesses and administrative offices, and 4,869 state-owned facilities.
