Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 24 - At the General Assembly of the Federation of Cambodian Rice Exporters, Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak said that in 2018 China agreed to buy 300,000 tonnes of rice from Cambodia.
China was the biggest rice importer from Cambodia. China exported a total of 200,000 tonnes of rice to China in 2017.
Minister of Commerce stated that exporting rice to other countries is not an issue, but Cambodia needs better infrastructure, and farmers need expertise in order yield great outcome.
In addition, the Ministry has invented modernization such as machinery.
In 2017, Cambodia exported 630,000 tonnes of rice to 60 countries, an increase of 17.3% compared to 2016 with only 540,000 tons.
