Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 1 - Investigating Judge Nou Veasna sentenced Sor Moendara, known as Odom, 27, a private business employee, for a two years imprisonment for using the president of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) and other leaders' names to cheat people in Banteay Meanchey and Kratie provinces in June 2017, according to the court’s decision on Thursday afternoon.

The criminal was charged with fraudulent acts under article 377, 380 of penal code.

In the morning of December 27, 2017, Sor Moeundara admitted that he had taken the name of Senior Minister Om Yentieng, Senior Minister Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister Yim Chhay Ly, and General Pol Saroeun, to cheat the people about land disputes and smoothly process the related documents.

Ho Stapana, an official of the ACU, told the court that the accuse informed citizens and officials in Sambor district, Kratie province, and Chey Borei district, Banteay Meanchey province, that he was an Assistant to Senior Minister Om Yentieng, President of the ACU and knew so many well known men in the Office of the Council of Ministers.

He earned between $100-$1,200 in processing and settling land issues documents.

After receiving information, the ACU launched the investigation on June 16, 2017 in Kratie province.
