Paris, Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 23 - Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong said that the Executive Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) decided to appoint Cambodia as a chairman of Asian Cultural Council (ACC).

His statement came on Friday after the Executive Committee Meeting of Centrist Democrat International (CDI) in Hungary and the discussion with Audrey Azoulay, former French Minister of Culture and newly appointed Director General of UNESCO in Paris.

Audrey Azoulay welcomed the establishment of the "Asian Cultural Council", which is so important for cultural exchanges between Asian countries and UNESCO to enhance peace and understanding in accordance with UNESCO's principles for global culture and peace.

Meanwhile, Audrey also congratulated Cambodia for being a chairman of the ACC.

She added that by requiring interpretation of UNESCO's multilateral agreements and other studies, the agreement will be submitted to the UNESCO Executive Board for approval in October.

The Executive Committee of the ICAPP represents political parties in 53 ICAPP member countries in Asia.
