Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 25 - President of the Cambodian Youth Party (CYP) Pich Sros called a statement issued by the former Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), which did not recognize the result of the Senate election, is an epilepsy of former opposition leaders.

His reaction took place after the former CNRP issued a statement on Sunday rejecting the election result regarding the unfairness and illegality of the Senate Election held today; and called on the international community not to recognize the election results.

According to the statement, CNRP rejects the election result based on three reasons, including NEC is not complying to the law and the constitution, the representatives do not reflect the true willingness of people, and the absence of CNRP.

"The statement of the former CNRP is a clear reflection of the epilepsy of Kem Sokha's and Sam Rainsy's group as it has misled the public the survival of the CNRP," said Pich Sros.

Meanwhile, FUNCINPEC party on Sunday considered the former CNRP’s statement as illegal and attempting to disrupt the atmosphere of the fourth mandate of the Senate Election.

In addition, FUNCINPEC also encouraged authorities at all levels to provide strong measures for former CNRP’s leaders, according to Nheb Bun Chin, FUNCINPEC spokesman on Sunday morning.

He added that the 4th Mandate Senate election is underway, with a sense of calm and inclusiveness, involving many observers both at national and international levels. Such participation demonstrates that this election is acceptable to all stakeholders. For his party, FUNCINPEC, will accept this result.

The 4th Mandate Senate Election began on Sunday morning and took place in 33 offices nationwide to serve 11,695 voters.

Today, there will be 276 election observers including those from Japan and Malaysia and 300 local and international media representatives registered to cover the election.
