Phnom Penh (FN), March 6 - Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy, said that in the framework of foreign investment flows, the approved investment projects for 2019 in the mining and petroleum sectors are amounted to more than $ 1.3 billion.

The statement was made when the minister presided over the opening of the 2014-2017 Annual Conference and Direction for 2018 on Tuesday at Sokha Hotel Phnom Penh, attended by all officials of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The Minister added that by strengthening the efficiency of good governance on collecting national revenues from the mining and petroleum sector in this mandate, non-fiscal revenue from the sector increased by more than 10 times compared to the previous mandate.

By following the good progress in the past, the mining and energy sectors will have a great positive effects on Cambodia's socioeconomic progress in promoting social economic development, fiscal consolidation, and responsibility for environmental protection.

The minister also urged all relevant ministries’ leaders to jointly review the achievements, the lessons, the challenges, the strengths and weakness of the labor efficiency strategy to refine the action plan in 2018 for a better progress.
