Phnom Penh (FN), March 7 - Minister of National Defense Tea Banh will lead a delegation of Cambodia's Ministry of National Defense to attend the 13th General Border Committee Meeting (GBC) in Bangkok, from March 20 to 21, 2018, at the invitation of Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon, Thailand Defense Minister, according to the ministry's spokesman, General Chhum Socheat, on Wednesday.

The meeting was hosted by Thailand, focusing on strengthening and enhancing cooperation between Cambodian-Thai armies, especially on peace maintenance, stability, cooperation and development along the borders of the two countries.

Chhum Socheat added that the meeting was held to prevent any border issues, including drug trafficking, terrorism, transnational crime, in particular, to strengthen security along the border as both sides struggle to find solutions and measures in maintaining and ensuring stability, security and development along the Cambodian-Thai border.

Meanwhile, Thai-Cambodian GBC, having Cambodia's Minister of Defense as a co-chief of, has played a vital role in strengthening the relationship and good cooperation between the two armies.

The committee is held annually to examine and resolve recent issues concerning the border of Cambodia-Thailand.

Last year, the 12th GBC of Cambodia-Thailand was held in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
