Phnom Penh (FN), March 14 – Cambodian Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn stated that after the Supreme Court dissolved the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), the situation is calm reflecting that people have no willingness to initiate color revolution.

Minister Prak Sokhonn’s statement was made in a meeting held the ministry on Wednesday with Rhona Smith, UN's Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Cambodia.

Rhona Smith expressed her interest in Cambodia's progress, especially the socio-economic development. She highlighted the importance of Cambodia's independence, sovereignty, peace, stability, development, and human rights in Cambodia.

Senior Minister Prak Sokhonn stressed that the economic development in Cambodia is a key factor in ensuring rights and freedom of Cambodian people.

He added that peace, stability and development are the preliminary conditions in Cambodia to ensure progress on other rights, especially political rights.

He emphasized the Royal Government’s responsibility in maintaining peace, stability and development of Cambodia and that Cambodia can not accept any actions or statements that violate Cambodia's sovereignty and independence.

At the same time, he also informed Rhona Smith the ongoing efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia in organizing elections in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
