Phnom Penh (FN), March 20 - Cambodia and Russia, on Saturday, signed an agreement on Protocol on Cooperation between the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Russian Federation and the National Election Committee (NEC) of Cambodia, according to Dim Sovannarom, NEC spokesman, on Tuesday.

Cooperation was based on trust, equality, mutual benefit, respect and compliance with each State's laws.

The purpose of this protocol is to strengthen electoral laws and practices in the preparations for elections by focusing on the activities of the Electoral Institution; promote the professional level of the institution and the legal rights of the voters; ensure party's rights during campaigns; grant finance for the election process; develop and utilize technologies for elections; and organize elections in remote areas.
