Phnom Penh (FN), March 22 - Cambodian peacekeepers’ camps in Kidal, Mali was attacked by an unidentified group on Thursday, according to Defense Ministry spokesman Chum Socheat.

“Three propelled grenades hit Cambodian blue berets’ quarters in Kidal, Mali at 6:55 A.M in Mali (1:55 P.M in Cambodia) on March 22, 2018, but not no one was injured, only some properties damaged,” stated Chum Socheat.

This was not the first raid on the Cambodian peacekeeping force in Mali. In last November, Cambodian forces on the mission of unexploded ordnance operations in the mission area in Mali were also attacked by the rebels.

On May 9, 2017, four Cambodia's blue berets passed away and one injured in the attack in Central Africa Republic.

Prime Minister Hun Sen considered the deaths of these forces a great loss of Cambodia and an honorable sacrifice for the nation.
