SYDNEY, April 3 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump will attend this year's Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit meeting in Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby, PNG local media reported Monday.

The South Pacific nation will host 21 leaders from around the Pacific Rim to talk about trade cooperation in November.

According to local media, Trump also sent a letter to Prime Minister Peter O'Neill's office, to express his condolence in the wake of the February 26 earthquake that is believed to have killed over 150 people in the remote Highland regions.

"On behalf of the Government and the people of the United States, I want to convey my condolences for the loss of life and damage in Papua New Guinea caused by the earthquake in the Highlands," the letter said.
