Phnom Penh (FN), May 5 - Health Minister Mam Bun Heng issued a notice recognizing a doctoral degree from Vietnam, according to the ministry's announcement on Saturday afternoon.

"After reviewing and revising with the consent of the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Ministry of Health shall decide to accredit a doctoral degree certified by legal institutions in the legal health sector from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam”, the Minister wrote in the notification.

A recent graduated doctor from Vietnam with a Facebook account named CH Vandara had requested Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen to help solve the problem of his certificate obtained from Vietnam, which was not recognized by the Ministry.

"I have told Mam Bun Heng to hold a meeting to solve the problem. I have no problem recognizing the doctor‘s degree if Vietnam's school offers an accredited doctor's degree. However, I must listen to the head of the ministry’s reason of why they not accept it. Is it because pursuing Doctor’s degree in Cambodia takes 8 years and Vietnam only 6 years?”, the premier replied to the above account.

Prime Minister urged that the graduates must take the knowledge back to serve the people and improve their abilities.

The premier reiterated that his Facebook is created to solve problems and listen to people's requests, just like this case.
