Phnom Penh (FN), May 28 - Minister of Interior Sar Kheng ordered National Police forces nationwide to obstruct any activities that harm the upcoming national elections to be held on July 29, 2018.

The order was made in a meeting to prepare for the safety of the electoral process, where he co-chaired with Head of National Election Committee Sik Bun Hok
on Monday at the Ministry of Interior.

“Prevent and crack down all kinds of crimes and activities that intend to destroy or plague the electoral process to ensure a calm and neutral political climate, and free and fair election in accordance to the principle of democracy with safety and without threats, intimidations, and violences,” said Sar Kheng.

He asked all-level forces and relevant institutions to ensure security for voters, panelists, representatives of institutions, political candidates, and observers during the electoral process.

The Cambodian government has mobilized around 80,000 troops to maintain security and public order during the national elections.
