Phnom Penh (FN), June 13 — Bin Chhin, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Council of Ministers (CoM) strongly condemned the US’s Treasury Sanction on Cambodian General Hing Bun Hieng, Head of the Prime Minister Bodyguard Unit and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces; and deeply regretted the US’s decision.

“The US’s act violates the law of Cambodia, a sovereign nation,” Council of Ministers wrote in the statement on Wednesday.

“The US’s act is beyond her jurisdiction and thus unacceptable,” the statement added.

CoM's statement was made in response to the US Department of the Treasury's announcement on Tuesday to sanction Cambodian General Hing Bun Hieng for being the leader of an entity involved in serious human rights abuse, pursuant to Executive Order 13818, which targets perpetrators of corruption and serious human rights abuse and corruption.
