Phnom Penh (FN), April 25, 2016 - Cambodian opposition leader Sam Rainsy has been summoned to appear before court on July 28, according to a court document seen Monday.

Vong Bunvisoth, deputy prosecutor of Phnom Penh Municipal Court issued the summon on April 22, calling Sam Rainsy, president of Cambodia National Rescue Party to appear in front of the court on July 28 for public defamation charge following his posting on Facebook in November 2015 of which he alleged Heng Samrin, current president of National Assembly of involving with the trial of the late King Norodom Sihanouk.

The summon said the allegation was groundless.

Sam Rainsy is in self-exile abroad--is facing a series of lawsuits including the above charge.
