Phnom Penh (FN), June 19 – Newly appointed Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Sudirman Haseng said that Indonesian government will send two groups of high-level observers to attend Cambodian 6th mandate National Assembly election in July, speaking in a meeting with Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFA) Prak Sokhonn on Tuesday at the ministry.

“The ambassador informed the decision of the Indonesian government to send two groups of observers to monitor Cambodian national elections in late July, of which a group led by Indonesian dignitaries and another group led by Indonesian top diplomats”, MoFA spokesman Chum Sunry quoted the ambassador.

The spokesman added that the Indonesian Ambassador also expressed his will to further strengthen relations and cooperation with Cambodia in other sectors, in particular, the Indonesia’s stance in respecting Cambodia's sovereignty and non-interference into Cambodia’s internal affairs.

The participation of national and international observers reflects transparency and fairness of the electoral process in Cambodia in accordance to the hard-earned democracy of Cambodia that the kingdom has been adhering for 25-years.

The July's election will be held on 29 July 2018, with the participation of 20 political parties and more than 8.3 million voters.
