YANGON, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's authorities announced on Monday further extension of the restriction for operating international air services at the Yangon International Airport until Dec. 31.

The operator of the airport, the Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (YACL), made the announcement in a notice, saying the extension was meant to support Myanmar's effective efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Asian country.

Yangon International Airport remains committed to supporting the operation of repatriation, relief and cargo flights during this period, the notice added.

On Sunday, Myanmar's Foreign Ministry announced the extension of COVID-19 restriction measures until Dec. 15.

The extension covers the temporary entry restrictions for all travellers from foreign countries, the temporary suspension of all types of visas including social visit visas and visa exemption services, the ministry said.

Myanmar has recorded a total of 89,486 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 1,918 deaths as of Sunday, according to latest figures released by the Health Ministry.
