Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 19 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen encouraged Cambodia-Vietnam armies to further cooperate in order to safeguard peace and stability for the two peoples living along the border.

The premier spoke during a courtesy call by Vietnamese defense deputy minister general Nguyen Tan Cuong on Saturday (19 Mar) at the Peace Palace.

With a peaceful border, the two peoples are able to do their business without fear, the premier added.

Nguyen Tan Cuong congratulated Cambodia’s effective COVID19 control as more than 92 percent of the kingdom’s total population have been vaccinated. He also congratulated Cambodia’s chairmanship of ASEAN Summit 2022, in particular a chair of the 19th ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces’ Meeting (ACDFM-19), which was held on 17 March 2022 in Phnom Penh.

The two armies will hold a meeting at the border to strengthen friendship and boost cooperation on national defense by establishing a hotline to jointly resolve any incidents in a timely manner, conduct training, research and emergency drills, as well as exchanging information to safeguard border peace and security.

On that occasion, premier Hun Sen also shared the new entry guidelines for international travelers. The travelers are not required to show a negative PCR test result within 72 hours upon arrival in Cambodia; not required to take rapid COVID19 antigen tests upon arrival in Cambodia, and will be permitted with a visa on arrival.
