WASHINGTON, April 22 (TASS) - The Organization of American States’ resolution suspending Russia’s observer status over the situation in Ukraine was a serious mistake, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov, who is also Russia’s permanent observer in the organization, said on Thursday.

"Today, the OAS Permanent Council adopted a resolution, headlined ‘Suspension of the Status of the Russian Federation as a Permanent Observer of the Organization of American States.’ During the emergency session on the issue, Russia’s permanent observer in the organization was denied an opportunity to speak at the session, both before and after the vote. We view the adoption of today’s resolution as a serious mistake," he was quoted as saying by the Russian embassy’s press service.

"Today, OAS became weaker. It rejected a reliable friend," he said. "We understand that our Latin American partners are facing unprecedented pressure from the United States and its satellite countries”.
