NEW DELHI, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Two pilots of the Indian Air Force (IAF) were killed when a MiG-21 jet they were flying crashed during a training sortie in the western state of Rajasthan, officials said Friday.

The trainer aircraft crashed late on Thursday in Barmer district, about 532 km west of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.

"(The) IAF deeply regrets the loss of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident," the IAF said in a statement.
