United States (FN), Sep. 23 – Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Achim Steiner expressed his satisfaction at Cambodia’s rapid development and pledged to further assist the kingdom to achieve her development plans.

Achim Steiner spoke during a meeting with Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on 22 September 2022 at the UN headquarters.

Achim said that he paid high attention on the kingdom’s development and pledged to further support the kingdom.

Premier Hun Sen thanked UNDP and other UN agencies for supporting the kingdom, in particular the policies to promote UN Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals.

Premier Hun Sen highlighted some priority tasks that require the indispensable support from UNDP such as becoming a mine-free kingdom by 2025, initiatives to tackle and adapt to climate changes, as well as ASEAN chairmanship in 2022 to launch the ASEAN Green Deal. He invited the UNDP administrator to pay a visit to the kingdom at any appropriate time.

For his part, Achim Steiner strongly supported the premier’s statements and accepted the invitation to visit the kingdom.
