Beijing (FN), Oct. 21 – As the world has undergone profound changes, people-centered philosophy remains the soul of strength of the Communist Party of China (CPC). In the past decade, China has been working continuously to ensure people’s access to childcare, education, employment, medical services, elderly care, housing, and social assistance.

To pursue the better quality of the people’s wellbeing, Chinese president Xi Jinping said, “We must strive to realize, safeguard, and advance the fundamental interests of all our people. [...] We will improve the basic public services system to raise public service standards and make public services more balanced and accessible, so as to achieve solid progress in promoting common prosperity.”

As China begins to open up their scope of work in the new era, president Xi also underscored four major key importance to ensure people’s aspirations for a better life, namely improving the system of income distribution, implementing the employment-first strategy, improving the social security system and advancing the Healthy China Initiative.

Xi underlined that people’s health is a key indicator of a prosperous nation and a strong country, adding that the party will further patriotic health campaigns and promote sound, healthy lifestyles.

Regarding the health sector, president Xi also underscored China’s firm COVID19 stance by tenaciously pursuing its dynamic zero-COVID policy in responding to the sudden outbreak of COVID19.

China has protected the people’s health and safety to the greatest extent possible and made tremendously encouraging achievements in both epidemic response and economic and social development, president Xi said in the opening of the 20th National Congress of the CPC on 16 October 2022.

China has made a significant contribution to assist the global efforts to combat the virus. Since the COVID19 outbreak, the Chinese government has responded swiftly, putting the people first. As a result, approximately 400 CPC members and officials have lost their lives in the line of duty.
