SINGAPORE, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 5,301 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the country's total tally to 2,091,889.

Of the new cases, 521 were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 4,780 through ARTs (antigen rapid test), according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 499 were local transmissions and 22 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 4,427 local transmissions and 353 imported cases.

A total of 557 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 16 in intensive care units.

Two more deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Friday, taking the total death toll to 1,672.
