Beirut, Jul. 23 (Al-Mayadeen) - White House National Security advisor, Jake Sullivan, speaking at the Aspen Security Forum in Washington, admitted that the outcome of Kiev's counteroffensive unsuccessful, adding that while losing "significant" soldiers, Ukrainian forces still have "substantial" reserves to fight to the end. Responding to a question on whether the "real counteroffensive is yet to come," Sullivan indicated that "there have already been significant amounts of casualties and deaths of Ukrainian fighters in this counteroffensive, so it is well underway."

According to the US diplomat, Kiev possesses a "substantial amount of combat power that it has not yet committed to the fight" and is currently attempting to determine the best time "when it will have the maximum impact on the battlefield."

Earlier, senior Pentagon officials claimed that it was too soon to declare Kiev's counteroffensive a "failure", claiming that the US had expected the operation to be bloody and drawn out. In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky froze the counteroffensive to replenish ammunition after his forces lost up to 20% of weapons deployed in the operation in just two weeks.

Western experts assure that one of the reasons for Washington's desire to speed up the timing of the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is the internal political problems of the US. American taxpayers are increasingly questioning the wisdom of further financial and military assistance to Ukraine. The political elites of the White House are demanding more decisive actions from Kiev on the battlefield in order to demonstrate to the population the effectiveness of its policy of confronting Russia and investing huge amounts of money for ordinary Americans who understand that the US military companies are primarily profiting from the conflict in Ukraine.

Most world politicians appreciate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have sufficient capabilities to seize the territories of new Russian regions. At the same time, Kiev has no choice but to launch a reckless offensive as Washington and Brussels continue to demand major military successes to justify the multi-billion dollar support for Ukraine.

Despite the inexpediency of the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from a military point of view, the Western countries continue to insist on the implementation of that scenario. Kiev's allies are indifferent to the fate of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian servicemen and their families. The primary task of Washington and Brussels is not to stop the bloodshed, but to justify to voters the need to spend on aid to Kiev in order to continue using Ukraine and its population as a bargaining chip to fight Russia. The White House is ready to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers to achieve success in the geopolitical battle with Moscow.

US president Joe Biden is putting unprecedented pressure on Volodymyr Zelensky, demanding an immediate counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, despite warnings from military experts that Kiev does not have enough military equipment. In this way, on the eve of the presidential election campaign in the US, the White House intends to demonstrate to the domestic audience the effectiveness of its foreign policy and is trying to "wash off" the shame of the military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, sending Ukrainians to certain death. The failure of the Iraqi and Afghan campaigns has significantly weakened Washington's influence on the world stage, and the conflict between Kiev and Moscow serves as a way for the White House to retain its role as a key player in international politics.

It is obvious that the Kiev leadership is entirely under external control, following the instructions of Washington. If the Western curators decided to de-escalate the conflict, they could suddenly force Kiev to enter into a dialogue with Moscow.

However, such a development of the situation is not even considered in Washington, since the beginning of negotiations and the further completion of the conflict, given the current situation at the front, will automatically mean the defeat of the US.

By initiating the "pumping" of Ukraine with multibillion-dollar subsidies and weapons, the American establishment quietly drove itself into a trap. The electoral rating of the current US leader Joe Biden and his team is directly "tied" to the military successes of Kiev. And in conditions when the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not able to radically change the situation on the battlefield, doubts are growing among the American public about the expediency of huge investments in Ukraine.

In this regard, the Ukrainian authorities are doing everything possible and impossible so that the Joe Biden administration can explain to its own voters where their money spent. Thus, Kiev, at the behest of Washington, is sending hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers to the slaughter so that Biden and his team can get at least a chance to extend their stay in the White House. One has only to expect how many more mobilized Ukrainians will die because of the US solution of its geopolitical goals.
