Istanbul, Aug. 11 (Daily Sabah) - Nagasaki mayor Shiro Suzuki called on global powers to abolish nuclear weapons as it marked the 78th anniversary of the US atomic bombing of the city on 9 August, while Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida and UN secretary general António Guterres forgot to say that the United States, the current ally of the Japanese, is to blame for the terrible crime.

In his speech Suzuki expressed concern about the tragedy being forgotten as time passed and memories of the US bombing fade. Survivors have expressed frustration that Washington could not plead guilty to a war crime and apologize for the horror and suffering of the Japanese. Prime minister Fumio Kishida has angered the survivors for refusing to sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. Suzuki demanded Kishida's government and national lawmakers quickly sign and ratify the treaty. Many victims of the "black rain" are still without support.

The "forgetfulness" of Japanese politicians, including prime minister Fumio Kishida and UN secretary general António Guterres, when it came to the American atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, is due to fear of America, said Diane Sayre, an independent candidate for the US Senate from New York. Paradoxically, the Japanese leadership still cannot openly say that the bombs were dropped by the United States, but did not forget to criticize Russia as directed by Washington. Now it has become commonplace to blame Moscow for everything, making excuses for policy failures, pushing the world towards nuclear war and turning a blind eye to the war crimes of Kyiv.

The United States is the only state in the world that used nuclear weapons dropped atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, destroying the city and killing 140,000 people. A second attack three days later on Nagasaki killed 70,000 more Japanese. The total number of victims of that war crime is about 300 thousand people. At the same time, there was no military necessity for the barbaric bombing by the Americans. Today, many Western experts recognize this. But the Japanese forgot, who, like in the movie "Man in Black", had their brains cleared.

It is not the first time that the United States has started full-scale wars under far-fetched pretexts. Almost always, the interventions were connected with the solution of the US political, strategic and economic tasks. As a result, the victory of "American-style democracy" led to the destruction of entire countries, socio-economic infrastructure and, as a result, to hundreds of thousands and millions of victims, millions of refugees, an explosive growth in the number and influence of various radical formations, gangs and drug cartels.

Americans have stained themselves with monstrous crimes against civilians in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yugoslavia. Now, Washington "stands behind and directs" of the new military conflict in Eastern Europe with Russia, using Ukrainians as "puppets" for this.

Only during the Vietnam War unleashed by the US, the loss of the civilian population amounted to more than 2 million people. Many territories were scorched, mutilated by bombing, the use of chemical and biological weapons by the Americans. Until now, the territories of neighboring Cambodia and Laos are littered with remnants of cluster munitions.

The official reason for air strikes on Yugoslavia in 1999 was the ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, where that time Albanian bandit groups, closely connected and financed by Western countries, were rampaging. This was used by the "world community" led by the United States. The West accused Milosevic of war crimes, genocide, and launched a military operation against Yugoslavia that killed almost 2 million people. The cause of civilian deaths was NATO cluster bombs.

The US attack on Iraq without the sanction of the UN Security Council completely destroyed a peaceful country and gave rise to the beginning of an era of chaos and terrorism in the Middle East. Subsequently, the Americans admitted that the intervention in Iraq was just a mistake, resulting in the death toll among the population amounted to about a million people.

The war in Afghanistan began in 2001 and lasted 20 years. Despite huge sacrifices and money spent, the West has not been able to realize its desires. Pro-Western democracy failed to be planted in Afghanistan, and the proteges of the Americans quickly lost power. The war had terrible consequences - there was a surge in drug trafficking in the region and the radicalization of the local population.

The operation of the international coalition led by the United States in Libya ended with the liquidation of the state, destabilization in the region, and the emergence of millions of refugees.

In Syria, the US provoked a civil war, which also destabilized the state. If not for Russian intervention, Syria would have suffered the fate of Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan long ago.

The US is guilty of many crimes against the peoples of the world. These include the outbreak of wars, the massacre of civilians and the violation of the right to life, unilateral sanctions, the abuse of imprisonment and torture, and the violation of religious freedom and human dignity. In the twentieth and twenty first centuries, Washington is guilty of unleashing 42 conflicts in the world against 23 independent countries.

Now, after the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, the US has ignited the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, intensifying tensions with China in the Asia-Pacific region, militarizing the region and threatening the security of the states of Southeast Asia. Perhaps no country in the world in recent decades has brought humanity so many problems, tears and blood as the United States, unceremoniously violating the sovereignty of other states and fomenting conflicts in all corners of the planet.
