BEIJING, Dec. 20 (TASS) – Cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is a strategic choice based on the fundamental interests of Russia and China, Chinese leader Xi Jinping told visiting Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting in Beijing.
"Maintaining and developing the Chinese-Russian relationship is a strategic choice of both countries which is based on the fundamental interests of our peoples," Xi emphasized. He also said that China supports the Russian people in their chosen path of development.
According to Xi, next year, when Beijing and Moscow will celebrate the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, China will be ready "to continuously enhance the positive effect of high-level political relations" and jointly "make every contribution to promoting the economic and social development of the [two] countries and their national revival."
The Russian premier is visiting Beijing on December 19-20. Earlier, he met with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang for the 28th regular meeting between the Russian and Chinese heads of government.
